Midsummer Greetings from Managing Director

Summer holidays are soon here and within a couple of days Finland celebrates Midsummer Eve, the beginning of summer holiday season. Although it’s the summer holiday season our office is open and there’s always someone on duty, therefore don’t hesitate to contact us. The past six months have gone quickly, so let’s reverse a bit and have a look at the 2015 figures and great achievements.

2015 was a huge success for us. Seven more professionals joined our team increasing our greatest asset – personnel – to 18 experienced professionals. Together we have been working more than 100 years in Finnish wind energy business. Also financially the year was profitable. Our revenue increased to 2.2 million euros, giving us a 10% EBITDA. It has now been 3 consecutive growth years with a medium growth of 53%. During 2015 we paid off our long term loans, which gives us excellent approach towards the future. Our biggest market was Finland with a 48% share of our revenue.

2015 was also very interesting technically. We performed over one hundred inspections for wind turbines at different phases of their life cycle. Our blade inspection unit worked with 150 blades from five different manufacturers. Our 8760Control service developed to a round the clock operating control room which besides monitoring and operating wind turbines and substations also performs condition monitoring for drive trains. In Estonia we started our biggest project so far adding fire alarm system and camera surveillance to eighteen turbines. Improving safety issues is always close to our heart.

The first half of 2016 has started with changes in our organization and customer base. Our main owner, Jari Valle, is moving away from daily operations and focuses more on customer interface and developing new businesses and I took the challenge of bringing this organization to the next level.  We have also organized our operations to four new business lines: 8760Control, Technical Control, Safety Control and Blade Control. This way we can focus on doing the right things most efficiently.

In spring 2016 Wind Controller was ranked 18th in the Northern Finland growth company comparison by Kauppalehti and we received the AAA credit rating level by Bisnode Finland. I’m very proud of our personnel whose hard work and entrepreneurial spirit have enabled us these great achievements. Some interesting projects are ahead of us during rest of the year. Our business is growing to new directions such as substations and other renewable energy sources. It will definitely be an interesting and exciting year ahead of us. Stay tuned.

Wishing you a nice and relaxing summer holiday!
